The red and white poles are one thematic device used throughout the exhibition, another is the use of modified tomato chips as small-find display cases. These small wooden trays, once very common in Guernsey in the heyday of the tomato trade, have found a new purpose on local archaeological sites. There they are used as finds trays to store items found by individual 'diggers' during the course of the excavation.
