THE QUEENS BIRTHDAYEach year, on this day Guernsey Museums & Galleries offer FREE ENTRY to all its sites. A 21 gun salute is fired from Castle Cornet, accompanied by military music and the Elizabeth College Cadets. At Fort Grey and Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery staff dress in costume and host a number of special events. See the local Press for details. |

A Gathering of FolkAward winning local photographer Mark Leightley stages the home leg of his national portrait exhibition dedicated to folk music artistes, first shown in London's Oxford Street Virgin Megastore. The Guernsey Museum will house 50 black and white photographs of musicians who have all had a major impact on folk music, from the early 60s through to the present day, complete with biographies. Among the stars are Ralph McTell, Tom Paxton, Fairport Convention Maddy Prior and Martin Carthy. More information... |
