A conference to celebrate the life and work of F C Lukis and his family and other great Victorian archaeologists throughout Europe.
Keynote address by Professor Timothy Champion on the evening of 2nd June.

Picquet House (start) walking to Mignot Plateau (performance)

BURNT AT THE STAKE ! SPECIAL EVENT

To commemorate the 450th Anniversary of the story told in Foxes Book of Martyrs, of the three Guernsey women accused of heresy.

July 17th and July 27th 18:15 start at the Picquet House. Follow the women as they are taken through Fountain Street and up Tower Hill. Presentation 18:45 (approx) on the Mignot Plateau.

Lukis Room

‘PURSUITS & JOYS’ - COLLECTORS' CORNER

To complement the exhibition on the Victorian collector, antiquarian and archaeologist Frederick Corbin Lukis, Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery is pleased to invite selected local enthusiasts to share their present day collections with other museum visitors.

The Lukis Room at the museum in Candie Gardens has been set aside until November 2006, to enable local people to display aspects of their own personal collections. This can be in photographic form or, if appropriate, a selection of actual items from your collection. (more information...)

Victorian Day

To launch ‘Collectors' Corner’, and complement the story of the Lukis family in our main ‘Pursuits & Joys’ Exhibition, we have a series of stories enacted by members of the Guernsey History in Action Company. The first story begins at 11:00 a.m., with additional stories at hourly intervals until the final one begins at 14:45.

Festival of Living History

A selection of stories around the theme of Guernsey's great naval hero, Admiral Lord James De Saumarez. Members of the Guernsey History in Action Company will perform at hourly intervals, commencing at 11:15 and with the final performance at 15:15.

Festival of Living History

To mark the end of the 2006 season, members of the Guernsey History in Action Company will again present stories around the theme of Guernsey's great naval hero, Admiral Lord James De Saumarez. These will include a new fourth story in the series about his life and career - ‘Saumarez in the Baltic' will be presented at 1.15 pm and at 2.15pm .
