‘Mr Lihou Reports’
Guernseyman Admiral Sir James Saumarez was one of Nelson’s captains. In 1805 he
was in charge of the Channel Island Squadron and so missed the great triumph at
Trafalgar. However, his nephew John Lihou, who was on board the ‘Swiftsure’ is
back in the Island to see his uncle and report on the battle. Sir James is also
entertaining the delightful Miss Eleanor who is fascinated by Mr Lihou – and his
story.
