 The Story of Guernsey Tom

For many years Guernsey was famous for growing tomatoes. The 'Guernsey Tom' was sold in markets and shops throughout Great Britain.

In 2003 the museum held an exhibition which looked back at the local 'growing' industry and the tomato trade - once a mainstay of the local economy. This activity book presents many interesting facts in an entertaining way, using games and colouring.

Text by Peter Brehaut : 2004 : 23 pages, fully illustrated (photographs & line drawings)

Until the 1980's little evidence of Roman activity in Guernsey was known but then a shipwreck was found in the harbour and land-based sites also came to light. Using games, artwork from our museum displays and line drawings to be coloured, this book sheds light on Guernsey's role as an ancient trading centre.
