The Occupation and Liberation of Guernsey, World War II.

The museum service holds an extensive archive of photographs documenting many aspects of Guernsey life since the 19th century. We are delighted to be able to show a selection of key photographs from our German Occupation archive as part of the first Guernsey Photographic Festival in May 2010. This also coincides with the 65th anniversary of Guernsey's Liberation from occcupation.

Visitors are are invited to sit in the church pews and watch the slide-show which lasts for approximately 15 minutes.
Entry is FREE OF CHARGE.

Museums at Night / La Nuit Des Musées

Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery will again be supporting this pan-European initiative by opening during the evening for a programme of tours and talks by museum staff, including a look at some of the collection not usually seen by the public. The winners of our "Remember" photographic competition will also be announced during the course of the evening. Watch local media for details.

Rocquaine Regatta

The Rocquaine Regatta has a long and distinguished reputation for fun. A full day (and evening) of free entertainment and activities for both the young and young at heart, including beach and stage events, sandcastles, inshore swimming and sailing, as well as raft races, 5-a-side football and volleyball and even a mini-macho contest.  Held on Guernsey’s beautiful southwest coast, there is also free entry to Fort Grey, Maritime Museum.
