Wildlife Photographer of the Year

This popular annual exhibition returns to our schedule with a stunning array of wildlife photography from around the World.

It features the winning images from the 2009 Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition, chosen from over 43,000 entries - a figure which continues to grow each year. It attracted entries from 94 countries and can justifiably claim to be the largest and most prestigious competition of its type in the world.

As always, the exhibition contains an awesome and inspiring range of images to remind us of the beauty and fragility of the world in which we live.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine.

The Nature of Things

This exhibition of natural history watercolours by Frederick Corbin Lukis (1788-1871) shows nature in all its splendour. Lukis’ attention to detail has resulted not only in valuable scientific observations but also the most exquisite artworks that illustrate his love and knowledge of nature.

Occupied Behind Barbed Wire

During the occupation of the Channel Islands in World War II over 2000 islanders were deported to internment camps in Europe. This exhibition not only tells the story of the deportees but also provides a showcase for the myriad art, craft and domestic items which they made during their time in the camps.

Fascinating items from a wide variety of sources on both Guernsey and Jersey have been brought together.

An informative book accompanies the exhibition.

A World Filled With Dreams

A Portrait of Hauteville House

All the paintings in this exhibition, by the locally based portrait artist Mark Cook, are in-fact fragments of a larger portrait, which is Hauteville House - home of the writer and poet, Victor Hugo from 1855-1870. As we view the portraits of people who care for the house and the detailed studies of Hauteville’s interior, we are taken on a virtual tour, which captures the spirit and romanticism of this special place.
