If you want to find out where natural history collections relating to a particular area, person or classification grouping are located, then this is the place to look. Don't expect images and fancy effects, this is a serious research site, offering sophisticated searching of datasets which have taken years to compile. There is often biographical and related information about the collectors concerned. |

| La Société Guernesiaise - Founded in 1822 as a local Natural History society, it immediately began publishing annual volumes of 'Transactions' containing detailed articles and observations relating to the Bailiwick. Its interest rapidly extended to cover most aspects of local human history, in addition to natural science. The society adopted its current name in the early 1920s and still flourishes. |
