The Lord Chamberlaine's Men present
A Midsummer Night's Dream, by William Shakespeare
Evening performances start at 7.30pm
Ticket details here...
Following their critically acclaimed production
of Macbeth in 2005, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, are back and return to
Castle Cornet to perform another Shakespeare classic, ‘A Midsummer Nights
Dream’. Their production by an all-male cast brings Shakespeare to life in a
way that will appeal to young and old alike.
Young lovers defy authority and flee the court, only to find themselves
caught in a web of illusion and magic in the Athenian woods.
‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ is a Shakespearean romantic comedy, written as a
play within a play centred on the theme of weddings. It involves two sets of
couples, Hermia and Lysander and Helena and Demetrius, who in trying to sort
out their own love lives enter the fairyland woods and stumble into a
quarrel by the King and Queen of the Fairies. The rulers of the forest
involve the impish character of Puck, who in his use of magic creates
mayhem. Add to this mix, a group of tradesmen rehearsing their play for the
Duke’s wedding and you have an hilarious evening’s entertainment.
The production includes historically relevant costumes, music and dance and
promises once again to be an evening not to miss! |

Illyria present
The Wind in the
Willows by Kenneth Grahame
Evening performances start at 7pm with a matinee on Saturday 17th starting at 2pm
Ticket details here...
Following their overwhelming successes with THE
RELUCTANT DRAGON, ALI BABA AND THE FORTY THIEVES, ALICE IN WONDERLAND and
FIVE CHILDREN AND IT, multiple international award-winning Illyria return
with Kenneth Grahame’s much-loved classic, ‘The Wind in the Willows’. This
production will be a treat for everyone aged 5 and over.
Mole is bored with spring-cleaning because deep down he yearns for
adventure. Ratty likes messing about in boats and dreaming up the odd line
of poetry. Badger likes a quiet life and generally to be left alone. Toad
likes - well anything that’s extravagant really: big houses, gypsy caravans,
trains, food, very very VERY fast cars...
Four very different animals living on or near the riverbank become firm
friends and enjoy a summer filled with adventure - and, in Toad’s case,
vehicular mayhem, incarceration, legal trial, escape, cross-dressing,
bankruptcy and an invasion of his ancestral pile. To what lengths will the
four animal friends go in order to evict the stoat and weasel squatters from
Toad Hall and restore justice to the world? |
