Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the word 'Photograph' appears in some headings, even when I'm looking at images of artworks?
The prints that we offer have been created photographically to achieve the most accurate reproduction.

What is the image quality like?
Our images are derived from professionally taken medium format transparencies, from recent all-digital photography or from direct high-resolution scans. They are printed on good quality art paper, using archival quality inks.

Will the pictures fade?
The archival quality inks used by our processing bureau have excellent fade resistance under normal conditions. As with any original photograph or artwork, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will cause more rapid fading than displaying them in more shaded conditions.

My picture doesn't fill the page, is that correct?
We normally supply reproductions no bigger than the size of the original - and in the same proportion. In the case of a 'wide format' work there will inevitably be white space above and below the image on the standard paper sizes that are used.

Do I have to pay VAT on my order?
This service is based in the Channel Islands and no VAT is payable on local CI orders. Orders from the UK and other EU countries will be liable for VAT at the appropriate rates.

Can I buy prints of other images or artworks on your website?
We will be working to extend the current range of prints on offer. Copyright issues may prevent us reproducing more recent works or those not owned by the States of Guernsey. Please contact the Registrar if you have a particular favourite which you would like to see offered as a print, but we cannot necessarily undertake to offer it on this site.
