Here's a handy list of some of our family-friendly events going on this summer:
All summer: Japan!
Catch this ambitious exhibition while you can. The three displays include Japanese art, Manga and a replica of the Japanese house which once stood in Saumarez Park. To Japan and Back Again: How a Corner of Guernsey Turned Japanese is open everyday at Candie, 10.00-16.00. Normal admission applies, so it's free with your Discovery Pass.
All summer: 1970s toy display and Timewarp
Step back to the decade of trolls, Action Man and Stylophones! The Discovery Room at Candie includes a display of toys from the 1970s and the Timewarp for this year is inspired by the iconic Guernsey toy shop 'Bakers Bazaar'. The room is open everyday at Candie, 10.00-16.00. Normal admission applies, so it's free with your Discovery Pass.
Saturday 27 July: Pirates at Rocquaine
Pirate-themed activities at Fort Grey 13.00-15.00, with facepainting. Entry to the Fort is free all day (10.00-16.30) for the Rocquaine Regatta. Activities are aimed at families with children aged 5 and over. There's no need to book. If the weather is bad, the activities will not take place but the Fort will remain open.
Sunday 18 August: Fete d'Etai
This medieval-themed day takes place at Castle Cornet 10.00-16.00. Normal admission applies but free entry is awarded to visitors in full medieval dress. (Entry is also free to Discovery Pass holders). There'll be music, dancing, crafts, a medieval camp and have-a-go crafts. For more info and a timetable (close to the time), click here.
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September: The Big Geekend
A two day celebration of unusual interests and nerdy obsessions. Expect an eclectic line-up of hobbies, pastimes and things to try out. Normal admission applies, so it's free with your Discovery Pass. For more info and a timetable (close to the time), click here.
