Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2011This popular wildlife photography exhibition opens the 2012 season at Guernsey Museum & Art GalleryWe are privileged to be the only location within the Channel Islands scheduled to display this prestigious annual exhibition of stunning wildlife photography from around the world. It features the winning and commended images from the 2011 Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition, chosen from tens of thousands of worldwide entries. The overall winning photograph, ‘Still Life in Oil’ by Daniel Beltrá of Spain emphasises the environmental concerns which underpin the competition. It was selected from over 40,000 images submitted by more than 4000 photographers from 96 different countries. Other special awards among the 17 exhibition categories are the Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Wildlife, Eric Hosking Award and Wildlife Photojournalist of the Year. The exhibition has 110 prize-winning and commended photographs. Entries are taken from both professional and amateur photographers; three winning entries are from children under 10 years of age. Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year is co-owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine and is sponsored by Veolia Environnement.
